One card drawn: If you dredged twice, then you have to either put the one card you actually drew back or pay 4 life to keep it. Sylvan Library doesn’t punish you for cards that you never drew, and dredged cards weren’t drawn. Zero cards drawn: If you dredged instead of drawing all three cards, then you didn’t draw any cards this turn and you don’t have to put anything back, nor could you if you wanted to.(See above for details.) What happens for the rest of Sylvan Library’s effect (if you choose to draw two cards) depends on how many cards you actually drew this turn. If you do, you can replace each of those draws with a dredge effect if you want to. When Sylvan Library’s trigger resolves, you can choose to draw two cards. If you do, the dredge card goes to you hand but it wasn’t drawn, so it can’t be later returned with Sylvan Library. You can choose to replace this draw with a dredge or not (if there are any dredge cards in your graveyard and enough cards in your library). First of all, whenever you’re drawing cards and you control Sylvan Library, you need to keep cards that you draw separate from the rest of your hand to make sure that you can properly resolve Sylvan Library’s effect.īefore Sylvan Library’s effect happens, you need to draw your normal draw for the turn.
